I tried drawing something in Photoshop for the first time in, let’s say… three weeks?

I worked on this for about three hours and then went “Hey, you know what would be fun? Not doing this anymore.”

STILL, I CONSIDER THIS PROGRESS. It’s better than a ten minute post-it drawing! (I hope.)

I’m in one of those moods where I pretty much don’t think that anything I do will ever be good again.

So here’s something obnoxiously bright and pink. Because that makes a lot of sense.

So I’m trying to do the whole Audrey Kawasaki painting on wood sort of thing. Except that I don’t do paint. And apparently don’t own paint anymore aside from watercolour and shitty plasticky paint I got for painting Disney princess busts.

So, um… watercolours, paints, marker, sharpies, ballpoint pen, colour + watercolour pencil. Wip.

I also started this drawing in ordinary & white colour pencil (love it) on top of this terrible watercolour smooshey thing I made. I’d intended to scan the pattern and use it as a background in photoshop but it’s so bad I just used it for this drawing. Which I sort of regret now that it’s actually coming out nicely. Sigh. I suppose I’ll have to find some way of going over this and making it not-terrible now.

Wip. Almost four hours.

Just to let you know I’m working on something actually nice for a change.

So, here’s my latest/last (for a while at least) attempt at the overlay lines thing, I started adding colours to it today but Photoshop crashed for the third time in as many days when I attempted to re-size so until my computer decides to stop acting like a raging, hormonal bitch I think I’m going to take a break from this because MY FEEBLE EMOTIONAL HEART CANNOT TAKE IT. It = seeing “This Program is Not Responding.” I swear I tear up a bit every time and get a twitch in my left eye all at once.

That being said, it’s not like I’m particularly emotionally stable on an average day ANYWAY. I think I’m going to go read for a while now.

Oh, also; tried out this Gouache Brush Thinger. I have yet to decide if I like it or not, but it was pretty fun I suppose.

I am bad at hands. Every time I draw them I have to resist the urge to just draw weird blobby ellipse things like I did when I was eight.

Also, I’m so glad the free transform tool exists.

Also also; I wish I could draw hair like Ravenskaaaar </envy>

Work in progress - lines, Photoshop CS3, one hour.

Another O’Bedlam reference shot which I don’t quite think I’ve done justice but hey, a) not trying to copy it and b) not done!

This feels kind of Erik Jones (more or less NSFW) at the moment but I’m sort of going for a Jen Mundy look overall. We’ll see how it goes. (Click links! See art that’s better than mine!)

Wip. Hence the squiggly hands.

It’s cropped to business card size ‘cause I was making business cards out of my art earlier and it pleases me proportion-wise.

Also, I probably would have posted this earlier if I hadn’t spent a good 50% of my waking hours today literally incapable of moving due to period-related back pain. Happy freaking Friday to me.

Done yesterday/today in Photoshop CS3, about four-ish hours.

Reference for this is one of my very favourite shots (polaroid, to boot!) of the lovely Caitlin by the always awesome Lou O’Bedlam.

Also, still a work in progress, I’ll probs add colours later. But yeah, pretty pleased with it for the moment
