Watch out people, the skinny little white girl’s got a gun.

(24.8.2011)

I’ve been a big fan of Amamak for a long time but the top photo has got to be my all time favorite of theirs. What’s awesome about this picture is that it’s a picture that you can take individually, you don’t need the second pic, you don’t need to know who Aviva is, it’s perfect as a standalone. And what I love about this picture most isn’t Ama’s shirt, the soft glow lighting, or the perfect polaroid corruption on the side- though I do really like all those things. No, What really makes this picture for me is her expression. It doesn’t just say she isn’t afraid of you, she’s annoyed, incredulous even. It’s like the start of a good crime novel, she was having a nice breakfast when some half dressed idiot in desperate need of shower and shave comes staggering out of the woods and starts trespassing and getting the dogs worked up. Turns out he’s an undercover cop who got in too deep with the crime lords of the city and woke up in the river with some broken bones and a bad headache. Nobody thought there was anybody living out here but turns out she breeds German Shepherds in the mountains. The cop really likes German Shepherds. Shenanigans ensue, she assists in the crime solving, gets the boy, etc.

Or maybe that’s just me.

Probably just me.

This is amazing. Can you please narrate all our shoots?

New addition to my studio walls, Amamak finally framed! Thanks to Aviva and Michelle for the gift and making my place look a little better!

Really really cute framing idea for anyone interested in buying some mini prints! (Very subtle I know)

PS you should all follow Hendricksonart because he makes really pretty arts on the regular, unlike me. Go now!

I miss this dress! I should wear it more often maybe.

It begins! (Taken with instagram)

I’m on instagram now, where I’ll likely post shitloads of pictures of cameras, Eva, and behind-the-scenes Amamakery! (So it’ll be this blog in even more condensed pictures-only form, basically)

If that is of any interest to you, feel free to follow me there, username’s the same as on here. You’ve been warned.

Impromptu shoot times! (Taken with instagram)

Yeah, that’s right. I’m officially part of everyone now. Be very afraid.

Impossible Project Portraits!

Some hits and some misses today.

HERE IS A THING WE’VE BEEN WORKING ON!

Our first foray into behind the scenes: we hope you enjoy!

(21.2.2012)

Hi!

I made a video thing very slowly and with no knowledge of video-editing whatsoever and I think it turned out okay (actually sort of love it and am half tempted to do this for every shoot from this point on but also half never want to put effort into anything ever again) Also, really wish we had someone to shoot hd video behind the scenes because moving pictures are fun!

So, in case you didn’t see it on Amamak, here’s that.

Oh loyal friends of amamak, I hope you liked the look of these mini prints

Amamak on parade!

Michelle and I’s Christmas ‘card’ with our family of cameras.

This is a totally normal thing to do, right?
